A Safe Space for All

Here at Grant, we want to promote and support equality amongst all of our Lancers, regardless of their gender, sexuality, and other identity factors. GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) is an amazing club we have here at Grant to support our students who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. This club meets every Tuesday in room 308 and is welcoming, open-minded, and accepting of those within the LGBTQIA+ community. Though it is unsure exactly how long GSA has been around here at Grant, it has been around in some form or another for quite a long time. Our current advisor of GSA, Ms. Kommer, has been running the club for about 3 years now.

GSA always meets on Tuesdays, once a week, and is a safe space for students in the LGBTQIA+ community to make new friends, discuss issues the community is currently facing in school and overall, and have a safe space to relax and hang out. You are even welcome to GSA if you yourself are not in the community, but maybe you know someone who is, or you generally want to support those who are in the community. GSA also often confronts issues that our students at Grant may face in school when it comes to bullying, discrimination, and safety, as well as how we can solve these issues. All students deserve to feel safe at school.

GSA also participates in events during school to confront issues the LGBTQIA+ has faced as well as to support the community. Some events GSA participates in are Spirit Day, Day of Silence, and Trans Day of Awareness. Not only do these events help support the community, but can educate others on the community and spread awareness. These events give more opportunities to demonstrate support for our LGBTQIA+ students here at Grant, as well as opportunities for our LGBTQIA+ students to advocate for themselves and other members of the community.
