Homecoming Pep Rally!

By: Miranda Vergara

Who’s house? G-HOUSE! This week was Grant’s spirit week and it culminated in our first pep rally of the year! Our amazing sports teams, cheer, band, and color guard came together to put on an exciting performance for our student body. The event was organized by our Associated Student Body, who worked tirelessly to organize student-led performances, games, and many other exciting activities! Moreover, this pep rally was truly one for the books as it marked the return of our beloved mascots who made their long awaited return after Covid.

The pep rally began with Ms. Wright’s cheerful school chants, leaving students feeling excited for what’s to come next. The energy in the gym soared as our student body expressed their school pride through the stands. Soon after, Coach Yang introduced a new game where students went back-to-back to find specific items from their side of the crowd. The oo’s and ahh’s of the students echoed throughout the gym as the contestants' numbers got smaller and smaller. As the game came to an end, a senior and freshman faced off for the ultimate item, the Barbie Spirit Stick. The senior contestant swiftly grabbed the baton and claimed the last chair, leaving the crowd excited as they cheered for the win.

As the pep rally progressed, our cheer, band, and color guard put on show-stopping performances. The cheer team was strong and fierce as they danced, showcasing impressive towers and tumbling that had earned them championship titles the previous year. Next, was our wonderful color guard who delivered a beautiful contemporary performance, leaving the crowd in awe. Finally, our band delivered a booming show that shook the stands, filling Lancers with endless school spirit.

This pep rally was definitely one for the books and left Lancers excited for the oncoming homecoming game and dance. When asked about their experience, students commented that they left the pep rally feeling excited and motivated to showcase their school spirit at Friday’s Football game and were anxious to see what’s to come next at the winter pep rally.
