It’s officially that time of the year! Our Lancer pride came through once again at our homecoming game against Arleta on October 6th, 2023, with a large crowd of supporters both in the audience cheering our team on and those participating backstage working on the parade. From alumni graduates to our Lancer’s relatives, you could find many from the community returning home to our field to support our Junior Varsity and Varsity football teams.
The highlight of the homecoming game was definitely the half-time parade. Many clubs including Latinos Unidos, CPDA Magnet Leadership, Mental Health Awareness Club, the cheer team, represented themselves during the popular half-time parades. Some clubs participated with their colorful floats fitting this year’s homecoming theme, “Supernatural”, while other groups walked the track with their personalized posters and candy. From wearing Grant’s colors to covering themselves in facepaint and accessories, our students expressed their school spirit through our popular chants for the crowd. The cheer team and the band performed wonderfully during half-time, filled with passionate students, never failing to raise the audience’s spirit.
Although the game ended in a loss, resulting with a final score of 21-49, the school spirit in the stands remained strong throughout the day. Despite the loss, Grant is still very proud of our hard-working players and wish them luck in the future games of this season. The next game will be against Chavez High School on October 27th on our field, so make sure to go show some support!
