The 2025 Presidential Inauguration

On January 20th, Donald Trump was sworn into office along with Vice President J.D Vance. He won two terms as president of the U.S, the only president aside from Grover Cleveland to win 2 non-consecutive terms. He served his first term in office after he beat former secretary Hillary Clinton in the 2016 race, lost to former president Joe Biden in 2020, and won the race in 2024 against former VP Kamala Harris.

Despite the charges that were put on Donald Trump, and being known as a highly controversial figure that divided the American political spectrum, he still managed to overcome and won the 2024 election. After such a contentious election, we ask: What happened during the inauguration, and what does it mean for the future of the country?

Here's what to know:

The inauguration was held indoors due to the freezing weather. Many notable faces had attended the inauguration, ranging from big-time influencers such as Adin Ross, big tech faces like Metaverse’s Mark Zuckerberg and Tesla’s Elon Musk, and high profile singers such as Snoop Dogg, Carrie Underwood, and the infamous 80s band, the Village People.

Trump and his wife were greeted in front of the capitol by Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden, along with J.D Vance and his wife being greeted by former VP Kamala Harris and her husband. They were then escorted to the ceremony, where around noon time J.D Vance would be sworn into office first before Trump. Before being sworn into office, the elected president and vice president would first swear an oath promising to uphold their duties and protect the United States constitution.

After all of this was done, Trump delivered his inaugural address to the crowd. This proposes his goals for what he envisions will happen to the future of the United States under his rule. Some of his promises centered around fixing and putting the economy right on track, ending DEI, rapidly bringing down costs, and utilizing domestic energy production.

”The inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices, and that is why today I will also declare a national energy emergency.” said President Trump

After the president delivered his inaugural address, the former president departed from the Capitol, taking office as the 47th president of the United States of America, marking the end of the Biden-Harris term.
